 Renovating or rebuilding
Let’s say you love where you live – the location, the neighbours,
the schools and the community – but your house no longer suits you. If moving elsewhere isn’t for you, consider renovating your property or doing a knockdown rebuild to get the house you want.
The majority of the costs in a build or renovation lie in the labour and materials, with around 20 per cent of your costs relating to fixtures and fittings. You should also consider costs for landscaping, fencing and site preparation.
Start by getting estimates for the different elements of your design. Then, to ensure you have the most accurate cost plan, obtain detailed quotes based on complete design plans. This way you can budget properly for your rebuild or renovation before you start. It will also help you determine which features, if any, are too expensive to include in the final build.
